Christmas Tree Cookies

It's not Christmas without decorated cookies, and this year, we're starting with Christmas tree cookies decorated with a super-easy Tik Tok-worthy marbling technique.

 It's ideal for including children or using on various festive cookie shapes. Can we recommend red and white marbled candy canes?

3 c. (360 g.) all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. kosher salt 1 c. (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened 1 c. (200 g.) granulated sugar 1 large egg 1 tbsp. milk 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract



1/4 c. meringue powder 5 to 8 tbsp. water 4 c. (460 g.) powdered sugar Green liquid food coloring, for icing


Step 1

Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Beat butter and granulated sugar in another large dish for 2 minutes with an electric mixer on high speed until frothy and pale. 

Step 1

Beat egg, milk, and vanilla on medium speed until mixed. Add dry ingredients slowly and mix until mixed, scraping bowl sides with a rubber spatula.

Step 2

Divide dough in half. Place between two lightly floured parchments. Roll each piece to 1/4" thickness. Refrigerate 30 minutes on a large baking sheet until hard.

Step 3

Heat oven to 350° and line 2 large baking sheets with paper. Cut dough with a 3" tree-shaped cookie cutter and place on sheets 1" apart. Five-minute freeze.

Step 4

Bake cookies 8–10 minutes until edges are gently brown. Let cool fully.
