Megalopolis, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, is finally available.

Nearly five years ago, famed filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola discussed his plans to finally make a film he'd been working on since the 1980s.

He even attempted to make it in the early 2000s, but 9/11 rendered it difficult since he felt it would be inappropriate.

But, twenty years later, he's finally finished Megalopolis, which will be released later this year.

Coppola revealed during a recent episode of the Accutron podcast that the film would be screened in theaters after "a few months" of post-production.

The film's production completed in March 2023, and it obtained an interim agreement with SAG-AFTRA in August to allow for reshoots during the Hollywood strikes.

Coppola described the upcoming film as "unusual and never boring." Other than that, we'll have to wait and see."

Megalopolis, billed as an epic sci-fi drama and a love story, starring Adam Driver as Caesar, an architect attempting to reconstruct New York City into a utopia following a "devastating disaster."

His progressive ideals contrast with those of his lover's father, who is portrayed as having a more traditional vision of society.

Nathalie Emmanuel, Forest Whitaker, Laurence Fishburne, Shia LeBeouf, Aubrey Plaza, and Giancarlo Esposito round out the cast.

Megalopolis will be Coppola's first picture since Twixt in 2011, yet production has not been without complications.
