The 49ers secure a postseason berth with the assistance of the Giants.

In Week 14, the San Francisco 49ers secured a postseason berth with the assistance of other teams and a victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

They performed their duty by defeating Seattle 28-16 at home.

Additionally, a loss by either the Green Bay Packers or Minnesota Vikings was necessary for the 49ers to guarantee their participation in Week 17.

Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Las Vegas Raiders (literally) 3-0.

That left the 49ers with the Packers-Giants game on Monday night as their only remaining opportunity to qualify for the playoffs and become the first NFL team this season to do so.

At MetLife Stadium, the Giants defeated the Packers by a score of 24-22. The Green Bay advantage was 5.5 points.

The 49ers will qualify for the playoffs for the third consecutive season and the fourth time in the last five years, based on their Week 14 performance.

In recent years, the team has achieved exceptional success outside the confines of the regular season

advancing to the NFC Championship Game in each of its postseason appearances and culminating in a Super Bowl appearance after the 2019 season.

At this time, San Francisco leads all NFC playoff teams in the standings.
