The most common dog breed in the country is this one. Which additional people were included on the list?

Chihuahuas top the list of the nation's most beloved dog breeds, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The top 10 include French bulldog, Golden retriever, German shepherd, and Shih Tzu.

The rankings were determined by the 360 Reviews division, studying over 800,000 pet-related data points in fall 2023.

Chihuahuas are the most popular dogs nationwide and in 21 states, making up about 4% of dogs in the country.

Labrador retrievers, typically considered popular, rank lower at No. 10 when divided by coat color in this report.

Other breeds in the top 10 include Goldendoodle, Yorkshire terrier, American pit bull terrier, and Pit bull.

The report was created in partnership with Compare Pet Insurance Services, Inc., and petinsurer.com.

The findings contrast with previous reports that often rank Labrador retrievers higher in overall popularity.
