USA Basketball's Olympic hopefuls include LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

USA Basketball has formalized plans for a "Dream Team" at the Paris Olympics, announcing a list of 41 candidates for the final 12-man roster.

The candidate pool, selected by Managing Director Grant Hill, includes LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry, expressing interest in pursuing a fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal.

Thirteen players in the pool have previously won Olympic gold, and notable additions include Joel Embiid and Kawhi Leonard, seeking their first Olympic medals.

The 2023 World Cup roster, which placed fourth, contributed 12 members to the candidate pool, while other invitees include Jarrett Allen, Desmond Bane, and Trae Young.

Notably absent from the pool are Draymond Green and five other members of the Tokyo team, including Jerami Grant and Zach LaVine.

Steve Kerr will coach the team in Paris, with a coaching staff featuring Erik Spoelstra, Tyronn Lue, and Mark Few.

The United States, one of eight qualified teams, enters the Olympic tournament as heavy favorites alongside Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Serbia, and South Sudan.

The selection process will unfold over the next months as the team aims to stand atop the Olympic podium once again.
